Tashkent Zoo
Remember, as children, how impatiently we looked forward to going to the zoo, and the impressions of what we saw, as a rule, stayed with us for a long time. As everyone knows, a zoo is a special institution for keeping animals for the purpose of their demonstration, conservation and scientific study. Today, the largest zoo in Uzbekistan is the Tashkent Zoo. It has a rich history and is considered an important center for the protection of exotic animal species.
From the very beginning of its existence, the Tashkent Zoo was known throughout Central Asia, and its main achievements were the preservation of valuable animals, conducting classes to create qualified staff, and the creation of scientific laboratories.
In 1997, the long-awaited relocation of the Tashkent Zoo to a new territory with an area of 21.5 hectares took place. The large territory allowed the zoo to create additional departments for animal accommodation. Some departments have become the only ones in the whole of Central Asia.
To date, the zoo continues to improve animal husbandry, with winter facilities, territories for summer walking of animals, special distillation enclosures, and reservoirs inside the enclosures. In addition, the creation of additional rooms and departments made it possible to increase the species composition of the collection to three hundred and seventy-three.
The large Aquarium department has become the pride of the entire Tashkent Zoo, which contains both freshwater and marine fish. Several departments are located in the separately created Climatron building, where the microclimate for exotic birds, terrariums and primates is artificially maintained.
The zoo's area allowed for the placement of enclosures according to all international standards. An artificial lake was created for waterfowl, special reservoirs were built for predatory and ungulate animals, which is especially necessary in hot climates. All animals receive proper feeding according to a balanced diet and as close as possible to the food they get in the wild.
So, in the Tashkent Zoo, visitors can see a large collection of animals.
