Bagcha-darwaza

Bagcha darvaza is a symmetrical structure in the fortress wall of Ichan-kala. The oblong roadway is blocked by two domes based on four longitudinal and transverse arches and false spherical sails. On the transverse axes of the domes, square domed guard rooms and customs offices with full-width niches under the dome are placed on the sides. The northern rooms are connected by passageways with two-story facade towers hollow inside, flanking a wide rectangular passage formed in a flat-relief arch with a gable.

The southern facade of the gate, facing Ichan-kala, is less representative, although it is similar in composition, it is reduced in size, and there is no revak. Unlike Tash Darvaz, the stairs leading to the upper part of the gate protrude from the southern corners of the towers and are located on their sides, deep inside the Ichan-Kala wall.

The gate in its original form had a size of 18.0 x 16.0 meters, and reached a height of 8.5 meters. The gates are decorated with six domes, which are of the same shape and size.

Two large domes were built above the arch of the entrance portal of the gate, and shops were located next to the gate. The entrance to the gate is in the form of an arch. The facade of the gate is devoid of decoration, plastered inside and left in brickwork, with grouting of seams with ganache outside. The only decoration is the horizontal belts of polished bricks placed on an edge on the towers.

Bagcha darvaza has been renovated several times. For the first time in Soviet times in 1959-1960 and during the years of independence of Uzbekistan in 1997.
