Matpana Bayya Madrasah
The madrasah is located to the left of the Zhuma Mosque (Friday mosque) of Khiva. This madrasah was built by one of the richest merchants in 1905. The madrasah was built by one of Khiva's Khudaibergen masters, Khazi Qalandar Kochum. The premises are located on the east side and the entrance to the madrasah is from the corridor on the south side.
There are more than ten hujras (rooms) in the madrasahfor students, a darshan and a mosque under the southern dome. Matpanbai's descendants live in Tashauz, Turkmenistan.
In 2001, an exhibition, the Avesta History Museum, dedicated to the 2700th anniversary of the birth of this famous book by the ancient Khorezmians, was opened in the madrasah.
Avesta is not only an invaluable historical work that combines the religious views and concepts of our ancestors, but also a unique historical source, deservedly highly appreciated by the scientific and international community as a valuable historical heritage. Taking this into account, the international organization UNESCO, at its 30th session, held in November 1999 in Paris, decided to widely celebrate the 2700th anniversary of the Avesta. The anniversary celebrations were held in the homeland of the Avesta in Uzbekistan, or rather in Khorezm.
Currently, the madrasah has exhibitions dedicated to the life and work of the great poet of the Turkmen people Makhtumkuli and the famous Karakalpak poet Ajiniy za Kosibay.
By visiting the Avesta Museum, you will receive complete information about one of the most ancient histories, lifestyles, rituals and customs, spiritual culture, science and other areas related to the life of the peoples of Central Asia and the East in general.
