Nugai Caravanserai

Nugai Caravanserai is one of the oldest buildings in Bukhara, located in the heart of the old city near the Lyabi House ensemble. During the era of the Great Silk Road, it served as a hotel for travelers and merchants arriving from India, Iran and other Eastern countries. Here travelers were provided with food, water and shelter, and merchants could store and sell their goods.

Today, the caravanserai has been completely restored and turned into a trade and cultural center, where exhibitions and tastings of Uzbek wines are held. Shops with jewelry, carpets, souvenirs and works of art by local craftsmen are open in its arched rooms.

The Nugai caravanserai preserves the spirit of oriental hospitality and recalls the former greatness of Bukhara as the most important hub on the Great Silk Road.
