Konigil is a tourist village
Would you like to get to know the traditions and way of life of the locals better, see traditional crafts and crafts, try and participate in them yourself? Then you need to come to the tourist village of Konigil.
Here, in an ecologically clean area on the banks of the ancient Siab canal, on the basis of preserved traditional rural houses, an ethnic village was recreated, which shows all aspects of the life of a typical Uzbek village (architecture of houses, traditional occupations of women – home economics, embroidery, carpet weaving, cooking tortillas in tandoor, grinding grain in a watermill, obtaining various types of natural oils in a creamery, keeping pets, etc.).
Konigil is located on the outskirts of Samarkand, not far from the Ulegbek Observatory.
The highlight of the village is a workshop for the manual production of traditional silk Samarkand paper using revived ancient (early Medieval) technology. Here you can see (and participate in) the entire technological process from cleaning the mulberry bark, soaking and crushing it to obtaining ready-made sheets of paper, as well as making original products and souvenirs from them.
Also in the village you can visit the workshops of artisans in woodworking, blacksmithing and pottery, sculpting original clay toys, artists, weavers, embroiderers.
On the territory of the complex you can taste traditional Uzbek cuisine, participate in workshops on cooking Samarkand flatbreads and pilaf.
