Chashma Complex

The Chashma complex is considered to be one of the most important religious complexes in the city of Nurata in the Navoi region. It includes several religious monuments: a spring, a well, the Juma Mosque and the Nur-ota mazar. Locals believe that the spring is holy and cures all diseases. The constant water temperature in the holy spring is 19.5 degrees. According to research by experts, water contains 15 trace elements, including gold, silver, iodine, and bromine. There are small marinka fish swimming in the holy water, which are also considered sacred, so they should not be eaten.

Above the spring is the Juma Mosque with large columns and one of the largest domes with a diameter of 16 meters. There is a legend about the origin of this holy place. It is said that 40 thousand years ago, a meteorite fell here, forming a pit, where this healing spring clogged. The local people accepted this as the divine "Nur" (translated as "Ray"), hence the name of the settlement of Nurata. The Nur Ata mazar is located on the southeastern side of the spring. When visiting this complex, every pilgrim bows his head in front of his grave and reads a prayer. A well with a depth of 6 meters is located next to the spring. Issyryk also grows here, a plant on which everyone tied a ribbon, hoping that his wishes would come true.

The Chashma complex is visited annually not only by tourists, but also by thousands of believers, as it is one of the important centers in Nurat and in the entire Navoi region.
