Zharkurgan Minaret
The unique Zharkurgan minaret was built in 1109 by architect Ali ibn Mukhamad Serakhsi in the medieval village of Charmangan. Only the lower tier remains of the original two-tiered minaret.
The minaret is decorated with 16 closed semi-columns, the brickwork of which is made "like a Christmas tree". On the base of the minaret, sayings from the Koran were written, which, however, were not completed. The base was also decorated with patterns that have not survived to this day. The height of the minaret is 21.6 m, the diameter at the base is 5.4 m, and the diameter at the top is 4.1 m.
The Jarkurgan minaret is different from other minarets in Transoxiana. The traditions of Khurosan construction were used in the construction of the Zharkurgan minaret.
