Ulugbek Madrasah in Gijduvan
The madrasah located in Gijduvan is considered the most recent of the three famous educational institutions built by Ulugbek. The latest and smallest, it closes the chain of madrasas belonging to the great mathematician and astronomer. His other two brothers are located in Bukhara and Samarkand. It is necessary to visit them almost in one tour, but sometimes they forget about the madrasah in Gijduvan. And very unnecessarily. In terms of beauty and elegance, it is in no way inferior to its predecessors. Therefore, it deserves due attention and mandatory attendance.
The Gijduvan madrasah is double-vaulted, that is, it has two entrance vaulted arches. It was built in 1437. Inside there is a prayer mosque and a darshona, a room for learning. Glazed bricks, majolica and multicolored tiles were used in the decoration of the madrasah. Thanks to them and the skillful work of the best architects, it was possible to show all the richness of decorative design.
When traveling around Bukhara, be sure to come to Gijduvan. It's not for nothing that Ulugbek gave this city his attention. It means that it had a special meaning and value for him.
