Historical sardaba of Gulistan

The historical sardaba of Gulistan is an ancient water reservoir that served to collect and store fresh water in the arid regions of the Syrdarya region. The structure is a domed underground well made of baked bricks, with a staircase and a system of gutters for collecting rainwater and meltwater.

Built in the 16th century, Sardaba has been providing water to travelers, caravans, and locals for many years. It is a striking example of ancient engineering and traditional hydraulic engineering in Central Asia.

Today sardaba is considered a valuable monument of architecture and history of the region, symbolizing the importance of water for life in the steppe zones. The facility has been restored and is open to the public as a cultural and tourist attraction.
