Ferghana Regional Drama Theatre

The Ferghana Regional Russian Drama Theater named after Gorky was organized in 1931, when participants of amateur art circles were united into a professional team. The theater's repertoire mainly consisted of plays by Uzbek playwrights, dramatic and musical performances, as well as translated plays by modern and classical playwrights.

  Such plays as "Two Communists" by K. Yashen, "Ichkida" and "Gulsara" by M. Mukhamedov, "Comrades", 1932, "Defeat", 1934, "Honor and Love", 1936, "Offtobhon", 1945, "Hamza", together with A.Umari, "Ravshan and Zulhumor", 1957, 3. Fatahullah, "Traitors", 1939, "Buds", 1948, "Cotton Pests", 1932, "Rustam", 1934, "Leyli and Majnun", 1936, "Farhad and Shirin", 1947, "Song of Life", 1947, "Novbakhor", 1949, "Altyn Kul", 1949, "Alisher Navoi" by A. Uygun, "Silk Suzane" by A. Kahkhara, 1952 and many others.

  The theater's staff also staged Hamza's plays "The Tricks of Maysara", "Bai and the Farmhand", "Holishon", 1940. Such plays as "The Fault" (1935); "Plato the Gyrfalcon" (1936) and "Kalinovaya Grove" (1954) by Korneichuk, "Marriage" (1939, 1952); "Profitable Place" (1946), "Guilty without Guilt" and "In a lively Place" were translated from Russian drama. Ostrovsky's "(1953), "The Russian Question" (1947), "Treachery and Love" (1956), and others.

  The theater troupe actively participated in field performances in remote areas of the region. The Ferghana Regional Russian Drama Theater is one of the most important cultural and theatrical centers in its region, enjoying great success among the mass audience of viewers.
