Al-Beruni Memorial Complex

If Leonardo Da Vinci was in Europe, then Al-Beruni is considered to be the largest and most significant Arab/Persian scientist in Medieval Asia. Originally from Khorezm, this extraordinary man was interested in many sciences, and all the arts were in his field of interests.

Mathematics was of the greatest interest to him, which he considered the universal key that unlocked all the mysteries and riddles of nature. The scientist remained a bright star in the memory of the scientific East. The streets of many Uzbek cities, streets, and monuments are named after him.

There is an Al-Beruni street in Urgench in memory of the great scientist. One of the city squares, where a memorial complex was built, is named after him. The tall multi-faceted building with arched niches of window openings is made of yellow brick. A dome with a pointed top and a steeple pointing skyward.

Adjacent to the building is a tall square column, vaguely resembling an unfinished minaret. There is a high arched portal with a rectangular door on the side of the main entrance. The overall impression of the complex makes you feel the full extent of the Arab scientist's talent.
