Akhun-Bobo Mosque
One of the largest mosques in Uzbekistan began operating in the first month of Ramadan in the city of Urgench in 2018. The old building was built in the last century and required major repairs. It was decided to build a new structure, the foundation stone of which was laid by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Akhun-Bobo mosque with summer terraces, a parking lot and a minaret covers an area of 3.5 hectares. The total capacity is 3,500 believers on prayer days. The height of the minaret reaches 45 meters. The mosque itself is square in shape at the base. The central entrance portal has an arched doorway and exceeds the height of the walls by almost two times.
