Chimgan

Chimgan is one of the most beautiful corners of Uzbekistan, located 80 km northeast of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, in the mountains of the southwestern Tien Shan in the Ugam-Chatkal National Natural Park. Administratively, Chimgan belongs to the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent viloyat.

Chimgan is the most popular holiday destination for residents and guests of the capital. It is not for nothing that the summer cottage of Tashkent Governor-General Kaufman was built here 150 years ago.

Chimgan usually includes a vast territory from Beldersai to the Charvak reservoir and its surroundings. The ski resorts of Chimgan and Beldersay are located here at altitudes of 1,500 – 1,600 m above sea level. A huge rock massif with the dominant peak of Bolshoy Chimgan (3309 m.) rises above the area like a wall. It is 12 km away. Charvak reservoir is located from Chimgan, along the banks of which there are numerous hotels, boarding houses, cottages.

In summer, Chimgan attracts many tourists with its emerald greenery, clean mountain air, juniper bushes, picturesque views, Alpine meadows, tulips, waterfalls, and huge snowfields in the Aksai gorge. There are great opportunities for hiking, mountaineering and rock climbing, cycling and horseback riding tours. In winter, there is plenty of space for mountain skiers, snowboarders, and freeriders. On Chimgan and Beldersai, you can climb on chairlift roads to observation points, from which you can enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys for tens of kilometers.

The most interesting places to visit Chimgan:<

- Aksai gorge with RED and BLACK waterfalls, snowfields, birch grove, rock ”tablets”;
- Bolshoy Chimgan peak (3309m.n.o.m.), which is reached by climbing routes from 1st to 4th difficulty categories;
- Viewing platforms of chairlift roads in Chimgan and Beldersay;
- Mysterious high mountain plateau of Pulatkhan;
- Marble river with waterfall and shell fossils;
- Kyzyljar tract, Cretaceous remains on the Akshuran pass;
- Maly Chimgan peak (2100 m above sea level) with the Pesochny Pass (1832 m);
- Gulkam Canyon;
- Charvak reservoir;
- Exotic villages of Yangikurgan, Brichmulla, Yakkatut, Nanai;
- Picturesque valleys of the rivers Chatkal, Pskem, Koksu, Ugam, Nurekata, Aksakata;
- Kalasai River Canyon with cascades of waterfalls;
- The Paltau Valley with the Neanderthal grotto and the 40th waterfall.
