Termez Airport
Termez Airport "Termez" (Uzbek: Termiz Xalqaro Aeroporti) is the international airport of the city of Termez in the Surkhandarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The airport has one runway number 07/25, measuring 3000x60 m with cement-concrete pavement, as well as 12 parking lots for aircraft. After the general reconstruction, the airport is certified according to the 1st category of ICAO and accepts all types of aircraft: IL-62, IL-86, Tu-154, Airbus A310, Airbus A320, Boeing 737, Boeing 757, Boeing 767 and class below.
The terminal's capacity is 100 passengers per hour, including 2 boarding gates. The technology of electronic ticket sales and passenger registration using the global SDCS system has been implemented. There is also 1 reception desk.
Termez Airport began operations on May 25, 1941, initially on the outskirts of the city of Termez, in the area then called the "Northern Gate", and in 1946 it was given a place on the territory of the Termez district, in the steppe zone.
Until 1970, the fleet consisted of AN-24 and Yak-12 aircraft, which were used to transport passengers and spray chemical fertilizers in the fields. The following decade was characterized by the intensive introduction of aviation into agriculture and medicine. The air ambulance service has reached a new level of development, with the help of which thousands of people were rescued from remote mountainous and steppe areas, where they could only fly by plane. Great assistance was also provided to the people of Iran and Afghanistan.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Uzbekistan's aviation developed rapidly, new routes were opened, the number of passengers increased, new Yak-40, An-24, Il-14 and agricultural An-2 aircraft arrived. In October 1979, a new terminal equipped with navigation and communication facilities was commissioned. Routes to the cities of Samarkand, Ferghana, Andijan, Namangan, Alma Ata, Bishkek, Minvody, Baku, Ashgabat have been opened.
In May 1990, the concrete runway, taxiways and apron were put into operation. Tu-154 planes began flying on the Termez-Moscow route. Since June of the same year, Termez Airport has been hosting IL-76 cargo aircraft.
