Museum of Railway Technology

One of the unusual sights of Tashkent that should not be missed is the Museum of Railway Equipment near the central station of the capital. It was opened relatively recently, in 1989, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the railways of Uzbekistan. Steam locomotives and diesel locomotives that once made regular flights across the country were collected in this open-air museum. A museum of this profile is one of the most interesting among its global counterparts. There are 13 steam locomotives from the historical series. Huge black cars with long boilers standing on massive wheels are a testament to the power and unstoppability of these giants.

18 diesel locomotives and 3 electric locomotives will introduce museum visitors to the development of railway technology in Uzbekistan, and the collection of wagons for various purposes will allow them to learn that train wagons differ significantly depending on what goods will be transported or what functions the train itself performs.

In addition, the Museum of Railway Technology has an elongated shape of almost a kilometer, and excursions are often carried out on a small train that runs from the entrance to the far end of the park. The museum also displays parts and equipment that were used before. Semaphores, a Morse code radio, and much, much more.

The Museum of Steam Locomotives, as Tashkent residents call it, attracts not only as an exposition of the evolution of railway transport, but also as a beautiful park. This place is loved by photographers who arrange retro-style photo shoots, etc. Wedding parties often come here to take some beautiful photos on such a memorable day. But most of all, children love this museum – it's such a pleasure to climb the stairs and feel like a driver of a huge machine weighing several tens of tons.
