Kurganzol Fortress
The Kurganzol fortress is located near the town of Baysun. It was built at the beginning of the 4th century BC. It is noteworthy that Alexander the Great himself chose the place for the construction of this structure. It is not surprising that the structure itself is almost impregnable, because it is located on a steep cliff. The only side of the fortress, which is relatively easy to access, is protected by 6 towers. Presumably, about fifty soldiers were stationed here.
Throughout its existence, the fortress was systematically attacked by northern nomadic tribes, who inflicted more or less significant damage on it. Therefore, the building was constantly being repaired, reconstructed and completed.
Some time after the construction was completed, the fortress was burned down. Then it was restored, but soon the incident happened again. And now the building turned out to be destroyed almost to the ground, after which it fell into complete disrepair.
the turnip has a relatively small size. In addition to defensive structures (towers and loopholes), there are also several rooms for living and household needs. There is a water pool inside the fortress. To prevent it from overflowing during the rains, it was equipped with a drain.
It is built of mud bricks. The average wall thickness is more than 2.5 m. So, even despite its relatively modest size, this building looks very massive and impressive.
