Mountain villages (villages) of the Farish region

Many tourists want to get to know the life of the locals better. The most interesting for this are the mountain villages of Asraf, Uhum, Hayat, Majrum, and Sentyabsay, located on the southern slopes of the Nuratinsky range, near the district center of Farish.

Each village is located in a mountain gorge and is 5-8 km away from the Jizzakh-Nurat highway.

Tourists take walks through the picturesque surroundings of the villages, admire nature, watch and listen to birdsong.Hiking along mountain trails from one village to another is practiced. Walking through the village, you can observe the daily work of local residents: cultivating the land, harvesting animal feed, repairing houses, making yogurt, and traditional women's needlework. The residents are hospitable and invite you to drink traditional Uzbek tea in their homes. In the evening, after dinner, a concert is organized where locals play national instruments and sing their songs.

In the vicinity of the villages, you can see ancient rock carvings, a thousand-year-old sycamore tree (oriental biota) near the village of Majrum, a nursery of endemic Kyzylkum sheep of Severtsev near the village of Khayat.

Tourists can stay here in traditional houses of local residents specially prepared to accommodate foreign tourists. The owners of the houses were trained as part of the European Project to support rural communities in tourism. Each house has 2-3 rooms ranging from 6 to 20 m2, which accommodate from 2 to 6 tourists. There are no beds in the houses of local residents and, traditionally, people sleep on special mattresses on the floor. The bed is spread out before going to bed, assembled in the morning and folded against one of the walls of the room. The sleeping set includes a mattress, sheets, blankets, pillows, towels. The toilet and shower are located outside the house in the courtyard. Each house has a garden with fruit trees. The food is prepared by the hostess of the house from traditional products on firewood in special fireplaces, and bread (tortillas) are prepared in special clay tandoor ovens. Fruits and vegetables, usually from your garden. The dishes are mainly from Uzbek cuisine: vegetable soups with pre-fried and then boiled meat, dough dishes, traditional Uzbek pilaf (rice, meat, vegetables), potatoes with fried meat (beef, lamb), doublama (stew of stewed vegetables).
